No one is working in the hall. Everyone stays in the classroom. These problems are to be completed in class. If not, you must complete them as homework. HOWEVER, there should be absolutely no reason why they are not able to be completed in class.

After you complete MSA Inv 4 ACE 41 & 42, you can work on the homework due tomorrow. Which was assigned yesterday and can be found in that post. If for some reason, you have already completed it, work on these problems, which are an assignment not yet given and are not officially due yet. Pre62 and Pre71 classes can ask Ms. DiDuca or Ms. Cerabone for help if the sub does not know this math.  ONCE LAST NIGHT'S HOMEWORK CHECK AND REVIEW IS COMPLETE, you will work on tonight's homework assignment (independently). Be sure to organize the desks and chairs and return your borrowed headset before you are dismissed.

-Pre5, 62, 71 classes HIghlighted Linear Reference was checked, and we also checked in on the Solve the Following Equations worksheet, one last time. Next, we reviewed WU47 with the teacher demonstrating how to do all three problems as students wrote them down on the reverse of the warm up page to have as a reference for tomorrow's WU48. Finally ,we began to work on the Jeremy & Barbara Babysitting Rates worksheet , if we did not reach the graph in a certain class, students were given the set up of it anyway to do tonight

-Advanced class Checked/Reviewed/Discussed MSA Problem 1.3 and students were given an answer key and a opportunity to ask clarifying questions. We then checked in on #7 and #10 of the Equations from Tables worksheet and students were given a key for #7 and then asked to retry #10. From there we worked through #21.

This is a rework of the one we did before vacation with my notes added. FINALLY, if you did not do so well on the How Much? worksheet, use the key you were given today and review the problems.

-All classes began SS Inv 2 Problem 2.2 as a class (teacher led) with introduction about how rules change values on a coordinate grid allowing similar figures to be translated as well as to create figures that are non-similar.

-Complete SS Inv 2 Problem 2.2. BE SUPER CAREFUL converting Mug's Hat's x and y values to the values for Hats 1-5 using each of the five rules. Be sure when graphing to label each point as A, B, C, D, E, F, or G as appropriate.

-Indirect Measurement Worksheet review and discussion continues (varies per class). The advanced class completed this yesterday and instead completed the "closest to 4/11" challenge with winners being announced. They then each shared one of their percent of value word problems. The other classes will share tomorrow.

HOMEWORK

Similarity, Transformations, and Congruence Reference:

Read, then read again and highlight, then watch the video (the link is at the bottom of the first page) and take notes on the video on separate paper, and then add in notes from the reference. The notes can be typed, but do not have to be.

WEDNESDAY - 1/17/18

CLASSWORK

-Check in on CW multi day assignment (CW SS Inv 1 ACE 1, 2, 6-11, 13-21). At this point, all students present today were checked and given the answer key. Many had it last Friday, and it is suggested all students review it tonight and ask questions tomorrow if any arise. 

-Check & begin discussion of Indirect Measurement Worksheet  (advanced class completed this) and began working on a think-pair-share problem where they were trying to find a quotient of two fractions whose value is as close to 4/11 as possible using only the digits 1-9 once, and all do not have to be used.

HOMEWORK

1) Create 3 Percent of Value stories (word problems). Use proportions to prove the values in your story are accurate. Below is an example of a basic story. I expect you to create stories of this level and higher in terms of not using whole numbers. The advanced class is not allowed to anything other than non-whole values for the percents and number values. I also expect complicated stories from that class.

Example:

I wanted to buy a sweater and went to the Gap. I found a sweater with a price of $60.00. They were having a 25% off sale. I received a $15.00 discount. I paid $45.00 for my sweater. 

​

25/100 = x/60

25(60) = 100x 

1500 = 100x

1500/100 = 100x/100

15 = x  (discount)

​

$60.00 - $15.00 = $45.00 (sale price)

​

2) Ue the answer key you were given to finish checking your CW problems if you did not do so today in class. CW SS Inv 1 ACE 1, 2, 6-11, 13-21

3) Take another look at your Indirect Measurement Worksheet  and be prepared to participate in class on the ones we have not yet reviewed.

TUESDAY 1/2/18

CLASSWORK

-Students opened Chromebooks and deleted old classroom site link bookmark and added new site bookmark. They also either emailed themselves the new URL to bookmark at home, or placed it in a doc to then bookmark at home. 

-Review correct responses to Integer Addition Packet that was due on Friday 12/22, which was checked but not corrected then. 

-Launch new Stretching & Shrinking (SS) Unit by class read aloud of Page 3 Unit Introduction and then working on the Looking Ahead Problems with a partner. The advanced class answered all three questions, while the regular classes chose one of the three to answer. All Students worked with a partner. We then shared out approaches to solving and answers as a class. 

-Students then worked with another partner on SS Inv 1 ACE 5
